MASS: a Voice in Worcester Ready to be Heard

Worcester has never lacked talent, and MASS is determined to make sure the city’s story reaches a wider audience.

Although he’s currently incarcerated, the Worcester native hasn’t taken his focus off music.

Instead, he’s using this time to prepare for what he believes will be the next chapter of his career.

With influences ranging from Biggie, Jay-Z, The LOX, 2Pac, and Nas, MASS has built his identity around originality, lyricism, and representing the city that raised him.

He describes his music as a reflection of Worcester itself, with a mission to tell stories that he feels have never truly been told.

As his release approaches, MASS is already looking ahead, promising new music and working toward what he hopes will be one of the most impactful projects to come out of Massachusetts.

1. What does being an artist from Worcester mean to you?

MASS: "Everything. I’m born and raised in Worcester, and I feel obligated to tell our story that’s never been told. "

2. Do you think Worcester gets enough recognition in New England hip-hop?

MASS: "I know it does. I never met someone from New England that didn’t know what’s up with us."

3. How has Worcester influenced your music?

MASS: "My music is Worcester, and Worcester is my music."

4. Who inspired you growing up?

MASS: "Biggie, Jay-Z, The LOX, 2Pac, and Nas."

5. What’s one track or project that people should listen to when they’re looking up your music?

MASS: "I’m getting in the studio as soon as possible to make the most impactful album that Massachusetts has ever heard."

6. What’s your biggest accomplishment yet as an artist?

MASS: "Making my own sound and style.

The biggest thing about my music is that it’s original and one of a kind."

7. What’s one thing listeners should take away from your music?

MASS: "That it’s deep and spiritual, as well as lyrical."

8. What separates you from other artists in Worcester, MA?

MASS: "I’m an apex artist—not just in Worcester, everywhere."

9. Is there any artist you’re looking forward to collaborating or working with in the future?

MASS: "Jay-Z."

10. What’s next? Any new music on the way?

MASS: "I’m always posting trailers to the movie I’m about to make for the world to watch."
